Some new patterns today

I saw a picture, and I lusted! So off I went to www.yarnissima.com where I spent many UK pounds to buy two patterns. The first is for fingerless mitts and is called "very Terhi" (yes, that's the correct spelling), and I figure that they would be wonderful in the qiviut I purchased in Alaska last year. Now I just have to spin it.

The second pattern is for socks, and I really liked them, not only because of the cabled patterning, but also because they're reverse stockinette. I think they should feel lovely!

Ullr - the Snow God

We're skiing this week in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Our innkeeper is Irish and said that last year when skiing was poor they put up a picture of Ullr in the bar to see if it would help. It did! And this year it's residing there, also. The skiing is great, and the snow is lovely. As a matter of fact flakes are falling as I write!

This is our "get away" every winter. If the snow is good we ski as much as we want; if it isn't good we read and enjoy being with friends who come the same time we do every year. There's something to be said about sitting in front of a huge stone fireplace with a glass of something on the table beside you and a book or knitting in your hands.

This is the view from our room at Garnet Hill Lodge with Thirteenth Lake in the distance. Life is good!
